How do I get a Montana fishing license?
You may purchase a Montana fishing license online, or we are more than happy to get one for you at the Lodge prior to your trip.
Important things to know when purchasing a Montana fishing license online
- You should allow about ten business days for your tag to be delivered. If this time frame is too constraining, please plan on purchasing your license at the Lodge at the beginning of your trip.
- Any license you purchase online should be printed from your home printer. Once the license is in your physical possession, it’s valid for immediate use. Be sure to keep your license on you any time you’re fishing!
- In addition to purchasing a Montana fishing license for yourself, you can also purchase them for immediate family member(s). However, you must perform separate transactions on the State of Montana website and provide the required identification for each family member.
- Montana assigns each hunting or fishing license purchaser an Automated Licensing System (ALS) number. In addition, every Montana fishing license must be accompanied by a valid conservation license. If you’re purchasing your conservation license for the first time, not a Montana resident, and don’t yet have an ALS number established, you should be prepared to provide the last 4 digits of your social security number. The state website uses SSL encryption to ensure that the details you transmit are secure.
