Jason has guided on nearly all of Montana’s blue ribbon rivers, and loves to chase BIG fish. Growing up in a family that loved the outdoors, he spent countless weekends camping around the state, and exploring the many amazing waters Montana has to offer. Jason ended up in college in the southwestern part of Montana, guiding on the Big Hole, Beaverhead, Madison and Missouri rivers. Having so many blue ribbon rivers within such a short distance extended his graduation from college to six years! This added time did help in giving Jason a vast knowledge of the top waters in Montana, and he has been able to find a few places that are virtually untouched. His love of fly fishing, and helping people chase after the big trout has led to some life-long friendships with clients, and great fish stories!
Co-owner and operator, Julie was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana, not far from the “Mighty Mo,” though growing up, she had no idea how large a role fly fishing would play later in her life. Her responsibilities at TroutChasers include (but are not limited to) preparing meals, cleaning, tending to the landscaping, bookkeeping, marketing, organizing, laundry, playing with the dogs, and keeping a smile on everyone’s face. She looks forward to all of the friends and adventures that her future at T.C.’s holds.
Jeff grew up in the mountains of Virginia chasing smallmouth bass and brook trout. After graduating from Va Tech, Jeff moved west. His extensive fishing travels have covered the Rocky Mountain west from New Mexico to Montana. Jeff started guiding in Colorado but the lure of Montana was too much. Jeff personally enjoys sight fishing with nymphs but he will be happy to help you with any skill or technique you may desire. In the off season, Jeff is an avid bird and big game hunter.
Josh, who grew up in the mountains of Colorado, started his guiding career out of a Honda Civic with an Aire Puma strapped to the roof’s ski rack. Following graduation from high school, he traveled north to attend college at Montana State, and he’s called Bozeman home ever since. Josh has decades of experience under his belt working in the fly fishing industry – from working on the production of Simms breathable waders, to owning/operating a local fly shop, to guiding and outfitting on Montana’s rivers, Josh’s familiarity and knowledge of the industry is boundless. In addition, he always has a fantastic story about the area’s history, sharing tidbits throughout a guide day. His patient, laidback style makes for an incredibly enjoyable day on the water, and he does extremely well with children of all ages.
Jackson & Loomis
Resident TroutChaser canines, Jackson (chocolate color/son) and Loomis (dead grass color/father) have their paws full at the Lodge.
